We are pleased to announce that the Laboratory of Environmental Engineering and Management (LEEM) of the Technical University of Crete has entered into a strategic partnership with the UN World Food Programme (WFP).
WFP is the United Nations’ frontline agency in the global fight against hunger, mandated to provide emergency and development assistance to eradicate hunger and poverty amongst the poorest and most food-insecure countries and populations. WFP has a presence in over 120 countries and territories to bring life-saving food to people displaced by conflict and made destitute by disasters, and help individuals and communities find life-changing solutions to the multiple challenges they face in building better futures.
LEEM is a leading research laboratory in Greece in the field of environmental and ecological engineering for the sustainable management of water, soil and food nexus providing ecological solutions and concepts and cutting-edge research services.
LEEM and WFP will strive to work for the development and implementation of sustainable solutions in unprivileged regions towards the common objective of enabling human progress, economic development, and nature conservation.
This partnership represents a strategic agreement which shows our commitment to promote and implement nature-based solutions for climate change adaptation and mitigation and contribute to addressing the water–food–energy nexus for sustainable development.
We are excited about the prospects that this collaboration will bring.
